Giving back in Southeastern North Carolina
Reach the Beach, the refurbishing of homes in Wilmington by 450 teens who came from across the country by Cape Fear Volunteer Center during June of 2010, we partnered with Global River Church, Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church, Port City Community Church and Macedonia Baptist Church to provide the money to sponsor the materials, volunteers wrote thank you notes, loaned ladders, and delivered materials. Many baked cookies, and delivered ice pops, Frito Laye provided chips for the kids to snack on, and Port City Java provided coffee for the residents celebration. We want to thank Group Work Camps for all their organization and staffing of the camp, as well as New Hanover County Schools for allowing us to stay at Ashley High School and the staff of Ashley HS for their superior staffing during the week of Reach the Beach. It is our privildge to organize this event and we hope we will be able to bring the event back in 2012. Applications will be available in late 2011. Watch for details. Above all we thank God for the safety of the teams and the great weather!
