Rain Garden Planting & Community Clean Water Day at Bradley Creek Elementary School

Celebrate Earth Day by helping students at Bradley Creek E.S. plant a rain garden and learn about your local creek.Community members and residents living in the Hewletts Creek and Bradley Creek watersheds are invited to a Community Clean Water Day at Bradley Creek Elementary School on Thursday April 22 from 12 noon – 3 pm. Activities will include planting a rain garden with third-grade students and a “Know Your Watershed” education station hosted by the City of Wilmington Stormwater Services.

Morris Landing Preserve and Waterway Clean-Up at Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve, Holly Ridge

Please join the NC Coastal Federation, the New River Foundation, Keep Onslow Beautiful, and On Shore Surf Shop for a cleanup and paddle board race in celebration of NC Big Sweep. We will be working on a cleanup and project maintenance at Morris Landing, a water way clean up with canoes and a paddle board race. We hope you will join us for a fun filled day on beautiful Stump Sound.

Community Engagement Volunteer Needed
Shrimp and oyster festivals, planting rain gardens, monitoring restoration projects, community presentations – these are some of the tools that are used to recruit volunteers and engage the public in the Coastal Federation’s regional initiatives. As this program grows, we are looking for a community engagement volunteer to work with the staff to manage and expand our outreach program. We are seeking a dedicated, task orientated, and organized volunteer with excellent communication skills who is willing to donate 8 – 16 hours a week to work with regional volunteers and conduct outreach activities. This is a great opportunity to engage more people in exciting and meaningful activities.
