Local non-profit Communities In Schools of Cape Fear, which serves the needs of at-risk students in New Hanover and Pender counties, announces a bicycle tour fundraiser which aims to raise money for college scholarships. This fundraiser, dubbed “BIKE Carolina,” (Buying Into Kids’ Education) involves CISCF staff and partners in a 300+ mile bicycle tour of the NC Coast. Through the tour, CISCF hopes to raise awareness and find community sponsors for these scholarships which will benefit students in CISCF programming at WIRE Youth Center, Mary Mosley Performance Learning Center, and New Hanover High School.
The ride will take place from August 9-14.

Bike and change a life.
In August of 2010, a team of CISCF staff members and supporters
will bike the coast of North Carolina to raise awareness and
scholarship support for CISCF students.
This 300-plus mile ride will raise financial support for students
who are lacking in resources, enabling them to attend college and
succeed in life.
It is the goal of BIKE Carolina to raise $6,000+ to support our
students with tuition scholarships.
More and more, a college degree is necessary for succeeding in life
after high school. Many of our potential scholarship awardees will
be first generation college students, working to break out of a
cycle of poverty and become successful members of their
community.
