GCF mobile app downloads top 100,000

I thought this would be interesting: GCF is what we used to call Goodwill.

They're giving away useful learning tutorials for iPhone users. It builds on their online tutorials, which help people build up their job skills.

Mobile App Downloads Top 100,000

            In just six months from the introduction of its first mobile app, GCFLearnFree.org has topped 100,000 downloads, including 60,874 downloads of its most popular app, the Word 2010 tutorial for iPhone. This is a remarkable achievement, especially for apps produced by a nonprofit organization. And like everything else available at GCFLearnFree.org, the apps are free.

            A Vocabulary Dictionary Mobile App for iPhone was the first app to be released by GCFLearnFree.org. That was quickly followed by Tutorial apps for Word 2010, Excel 2010 and PowerPoint 2010, available for both iPhone and Android devices. Most recently, GCFLearnFree.org has released the Word 2010 Tutorial for the iPad.

            This new resource is particularly important to people in developing countries who are just now getting access to the internet via their mobile phones. For them, this is a great opportunity to access Microsoft Office tutorials that have been available through the internet at GCFLearnFree.org for over a decade.

            In the coming months, updated versions of current mobile apps and new tutorials will be introduced as well as additional mobile apps for the iPad.
