Giving back in Southeastern North Carolina

Many thanks to all who are keeping our little food pantry alive:
· Our tireless volunteers
o The people we never see
o The ones who load and unload the food
o The ones who write the checks
o The ones who setup, tear-down, cleanup
o The ones who encourage
o The ones who cook
o The ones who pray
· Faith Building Missions
o Came to our site, signed up, called, purchased, cooked and served – 200 fish dinners for Easter!
· Ron & Wilberta D.
o Ron and Wilberta are only here for a few months each year, but they leave an enormous impact.
o They spearheaded food and volunteer drives at Walgreens, Newcomers, Westport, and Closer Walk UMC
o Ron also was the volunteer coordinator for the Thanksgiving Dinner last year
o In his “spare” time, Ron and Wilberta delivered bread to the Leland Family Resource and Senior Centers.
· Fred Rose and Great Priced Furniture
o Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. – Malachi 3:4
· Walgreens
o Allowed us to place information and collection boxes in 11 area stores for the month of March
o Thank you Stew and all the store managers
· Westport Community
o Homeowners provided time and energy to collect many hundreds of dollars and pounds of goods
· Magnolia Greens Social Committee
o This group CONSISTENTLY comes through in our time of need.
· New Comers of North Brunswick
o Special thanks to this group for their new commitment
· Curves of Leland
o Cathy G. provided a fund raising opportunity as part of their membership drive for the month of March
o Many thanks to you and your members.
· Brunswick Family Assistance
o Thank you for your continued support and use of resources
· All of the area Churches
o Thank you for your prayers of support and your physical support
o This is a “fishes and loaves” ministry that depends on the hands of Lord and we give Him all the Glory.
Opportunity:
For the Walgreens project, we invested in a dozen simple kiosks.
They serve for both information and food collection.
If you would be able to place one in a high traffic area, monitor and collect the food, we are looking for you.
Meetings:
Manna meetings have been cut to one day a month – the Monday before the food distribution at Noon.
Volunteers:
Please consider coming and helping on food distribution days.
We are specifically needing help with USDA Commodities.
Upcoming Food Distributions (9am – 11am):
· April 17, 2010
· May 19, 2010 – USDA Commodities
· May 22, 2010
· June 19, 2010
· July 21, 2010 – USDA Commodities
· July 24, 2010
· August 21, 2010
