Just a quick note from the field. I'm on a laptop, in the orphanage center. Electricity is from a diesel generator. Internet is from satellite.
Group purchased TONS of food in Santo Domingo. Box truck and minivan went over roads made from river rock. Kidney jarring. Left at 5:30 am. Arrived at 4:30 pm. Group had to stop at border for over an hour to "negotiate" passage. Everyone exhausted. We, kids and adults unloaded ALL the food after we had lunch/supper - yummiest beans & rice I ever ate. We had a blast interacting with the young men and hand carrying dozens of 100-125 pound bags of rice, beans, sugar, pasta. Also oil and sauce. Then we played some soccer.
At church tonight the young people came and sang and we shared the Bible and all the little miracles God supplied along the way.
Boys dorm, vocational training center and kitchen all destroyed by quake.
Pray for the workers here tomorrow, for the preacher on Wednesday night (me) and for our continued safe passage.
Pictures to follow when we return - bandwidth too low.
