Do you know a community-based initiative that could use $25,000? Or a community advocate who can use $200? Now is your chance to help them bring their dream to fruition! Markham Vineyards is thrilled to announce the 4th annual Mark of Distinction program.
- The nationwide search is underway to find two community-based initiatives to receive a $25,000 grant. Last year’s Mark of Distinction grants were awarded to a crime-prevention alert system in Erie, PA and a business district affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, LA. This year it could be your community! To enter, submit a proposal and budget on http://www.markhammarkofdistinction.com/ before July 31st. Be sure to check back on August 18th to vote for the 10 finalists!
- To further honor the grant recipients, Markham Vineyards will also produce two single-vineyard, limited production Estate Cabernet Sauvignon wines appropriately named The Philanthropist and The Altruist. The 2009 vintage, to be released in Fall/Winter 2012, will detail the recipients’ causes on the label and Markham Vineyards will donate $1 of sales from each bottle to their respective initiatives (up to a maximum donation of an additional $3,600 to each charity).
- For the first time ever, Markham is celebrating individuals who believe that everyday changes can still make a huge impact by awarding a weekly $200 gift card. Based upon online entries at www.facebook.com/MarkhamVineyards, nominations for a weekly random drawing will be accepted now through October 2nd.
